The best and worst bets in craps, ranked by house edge
The best bets in craps are the Pass Odds, Don't Pass Odds, Come Odds and Don't Come Odds bets: they pay true odds, so their house edge is 0%, but you can only make them behind a line or Come bet. The best bets you can make on their own are Don't Pass and Don't Come (1.36%) and Pass Line and Come (1.41%). The worst are Fire Bet (20.76%) and Any Seven (16.67%).
House edge is the share of each bet the casino keeps on average, under standard Vegas rules (3-4-5x odds, 5% commission on Buy and Lay wins). No bet here has a positive expectation for the player: the best you can do is lose slowly.

Should you compare bets per bet or per roll?
Edge per bet is the cost of one decision; edge per roll is the cost of time at the table. A Pass Line bet takes 3.38 rolls on average to win or lose, so its 1.41% edge works out to 0.42% a roll. A one-roll bet such as Any Seven pays its full 16.67% on every roll. That is why a cheap-looking one-roll bet can cost far more per hour.
Sort and filter the bets, then try any of them at the practice table with play money.
