A one-roll bet that the next roll is one exact pair of dice, such as 2-4.
Pick a pair. An easy hop (two different dice, such as 2-4) wins on 2-4 or 4-2, 2 of 36 rolls, and pays 15:1: house edge 11.11%. A hard hop (a pair, such as 3-3) wins on 1 of 36 rolls and pays 30:1: house edge 13.89%. Everything else loses.
House edge is the average share of each bet the casino keeps. Standard Vegas rules, shown at a typical bet size.
Place a Hop bet in crappy and see its expected value before you roll.
