Banker commission explained: why does Banker pay 5%?
The Banker hand acts last: under the third card rule it draws or stands after seeing the Player's third card, so it wins more often. If Banker paid even money it would be a winning bet, 1.235% in your favour, the mirror image of the Player bet's −1.235%. The 5% commission (a $10 Banker win pays $9.50) turns that into a 1.058% house edge. The bet would break even at a commission of 2.69%.

|---|---|
| Punto Banco (5% commission) | 1.058% |
| A 4% commission table | 0.599% |
| EZ Baccarat (no commission): Pays 1 to 1; a Banker win with a 3-card 7 pushes | 1.018% |
| Super 6 (Banker 6 pays half): Pays 1 to 1; a Banker win with 6 pays 1 to 2 | 1.458% |
| Even money, no commission (hypothetical) | −1.235% (the player would have the edge) |
